Law_of_Introduction_East_Week Day 02
Day 02

Ignorance of spiritual laws is bondage
Knowledge of spiritual laws is freedom
Application of spiritual laws is wisdom.

Evelyn Underhill , from her 1921 book Mysticism
'A Study in the Nature and Development of Man's Spiritual Consciousness'

Daily Guidance:

How can we find time for the lofty goal of developing our spiritual consciousness when we’ve got families, jobs and so many other things to take care of?  This is one of our greatest challenges. If we don't make time for our spiritual development, there can be serious, negative side-effects on the long-term health and happiness of ourselves and those we love.

Cynthia's Journal:

Why study the Wisdom Wheel and its 36 Universal Laws?  Why not?  People need an effective, time-tested way to become wiser about life. The Wheel is a well-structured method that develops the whole person; mind, heart and body as well as the soul and the spiritual consciousness.

Designed for busy people, it is meant to put to the test, by daily application.  Learning a little wisdom each day adds up to a lot over time, especially when you use it regularly. We can’t all retreat to mountaintops and monasteries to study with the masters of wisdom, so we study the Wisdom Wheel instead. It's secret strength is in its daily use. These emails deliver the regular support that helps students travel the Wheel, and stay on the path long enough to reap the benefits.  Every day measureable, sustainable progress is made on the way towards wisdom.

Students of the Wisdom Wheel are often surprised by the unexpected improvements in their health; reduced stress, a calmer attitude, improving relationships and an increasing sense that life has deeper meaning. It isn’t just random chaos. The Wheel helps people identify the patterns and recognize the changing priorities in life, so they expect them and can align with them.

After consciously following the lunar cycle your energy will naturally ‘go with the flow’ in a deliberate way. You will know which way the flow is going, and why. Using a Nature-based time-keeping system restores a sense of physical and emotional Balance in everyday life.

We use the lunar phases on this Journey for another reason. Since we are studying Universal Laws we need a method that 's universally appropriate. The Laws on the Wisdom Wheel are global laws that belong to everyone, not just the citizens of a single country the way national laws do.  Universal Laws should be fair to all, regardless of origin, ethnicity, status or religion. That's why we base the study cycles on the moon.  Everyone can see the same moon in the sky, no matter where they live on the globe.  This eliminates any arguments about the pros and cons of manmade time-keeping systems and there is nothing to get confused about and nothing cross-cultural to consolidate.

The older the culture, the more likely it is that the calendar is still based upon the phases of the moon.  Chinese, Hebrew and Muslim calendars start their months, and years, on New Moons. Western calendars ignore the moon.  Although people fiercely resisted it, Pope Gregory instituted his Gregorian calendar in 1582.  It’s a solar time-keeping system, based upon how long it takes the Earth to orbit the Sun, approximately 365 days. This month we’ll demonstrate what it’s like to ‘orbit’ the Wisdom Wheel, using the 28 day lunar cycle to mark our movement from one quadrant to the next over these next four weeks.
