Day 03

Touch the stones to center yourself.
It is time to learn the Laws of the Universe.
If you will do this, you can become a touchstone for others.

The motto at TouchstoneCenter

Daily Guidance:

Traditionally a touchstone was used to test the purity of gold and silver. The Wisdom Wheel is a collection of 36 touchstones, also known as Universal Laws. Use them to test the genuine universality of ideas, philosophies and many other things.

Cynthia's Journal:

For those who can not physically travel to the Island to visit the TouchStoneCenter spiritual retreat sanctuary, we bring the Wisdom Wheel to you, via the Internet. In a global world, the ‘center’ is everywhere, and the Wheel is meant to be shared with everyone everywhere.

The Law at the center of the Wisdom Wheel is Balance. Without Balance, life is not sustainable; wheels wobble, systems fail and people do not function at their best. When your life wobbles, what helps you regain your Balance? How do you use to test to see if you are off-Balance mentally, emotionally, physically or spiritually?

CircleKeepers use the Wheel to Balance themselves.  They know how to 'check in' and sit down to literally ‘ground and center’ themselves and others, by laying out a Wisdom Wheel.  Deliberately placing thirty-six stones in their interlocking circular formation can help restore a sense of order to life.  It’s a small, humble way but it works.  The more often work with the Wheel, the better the results.

If you'd like to use the Wisdom Wheel regularly, consider purchasing a set stones at our website www.thewisdomwheel.com .  They come many sizes.  Each set is color-coordinated to reflect the meanings of the Four Directions.

Those we 'sit circle’ every other week with friends in a study group, meet for approximately three hours at a time, to share what they're learning about the Law of the month.  If you’re not part of a study group, you can follow this email Journey alone or with a friend, and contribute your learnings to the 'blogs' being set up about each Law. Existing groups have begun to take up the Wisdom Wheel 1,000 Day Journey as a way to keep in touch and communicate about meaningful subjects.

It is important to view the Wheel from all sides as you carry the Laws around it. The website photos demonstrate the changing perspectives throughout each month going from East to South, West to North.  This is done to consider all aspects of each Law.

On each full moon we end the study of one Law and take up the next one.  Because a full month is devoted, to each of the 36 Laws, it takes 36 months to study all of them. That’s why the complete Journey around the Wisdom Wheel takes 1,000 days.

The Wheel itself is the basis for this circular curriculum. The recurring phases of the moon mark four weeks of the 28 day lunar cycle and the study cycle.

Full Moon, Week One, is devoted to the things of the Eastern Direction

Last Quarter Moon, Week Two, is devoted to the Southern Direction

New Moon, Week Three, is devoted to the Western Direction

First Quarter Moon, Week Four, is devoted to the Northern Direction

Tomorrow there will be more information about Four Directions, and what is represented in each quadrant.  The Wheel is a multi-dimensional model, with many layers and levels, but once you've learned to use it, you can simplify the complexity of life. The Wheel is a practical, down-to- Earth tool, and a ‘tried and true’ method, used for centuries because it works.
