Why does it take 1,000 days?

It takes three years to complete a tour of the Wisdom Wheel
because there are 36 Laws and we cover one Law per month.
The Laws are studied in sequence, beginning with the Law of Balance
at the center of the Wheel, ending with the Law of Great Mystery.

What happens each month?

Each month we take up another Law and study it for four weeks, using the Wheel itself as our basic curriculum.  We visit each quadrant to see the Law from all sides while we consider each perspective.

What are the reasons for this One Thousand Day Journey method?

-There is a lot of material to cover and digest from many cultures

-The hearts, bodies and spirits go along on this Journey as well as the mind

-Research shows that sustainable change requires regular practice and support

-The Wheel is a way of life  best learned via daily application

Why spend four weeks studying each Law?

Because it takes time to synthesize and incorporate 'whole knowledge'.

Week One is about the intellectual aspects of the Law

Week Two concerns emotional aspects

Week Three covers the physical and intuitive aspects

Week Four focuses on the spiritual meanings

Who invented this?

Cynthia Davidson developed the Wisdom Wheel in 1995 as a way to unite the teachings of Universal Laws (also known as Natural and/or Spiritual Laws) with the wisdom of the worlds ancient Wheels.  She designed the three year course, 'Living by the Laws of the Universe' to teach facilitators how to use the Wheel with study groups.  The One Thousand Day Journey was created to share the Wheel with people at a distance.  Ms. Davidson spent over 20 years in the executive education business, running her own global management consulting practice, after living/working overseas for many years.  In 1988 she was the first to specialize in the human side of globalization.  A former journalist at CBS News, she produced and hosted a PBS Special “Gaining the Global Advantage”

When you finish the Journey, where do you go next?

Most graduates continue to 'sit circle' with their original study group.  Many continue to travel the Wheel and live by the Laws.  Some establish new study groups.

Why do this the long way? Wouldn't a quicker approach work equally well?

As with most spiritual practices, Wheel work is about commitment, and learning how to live a more meaningful life. Making a pilgrimage is an old tradition, and modern people can also enjoy the benefits of a deliberate and dedicated journey.

Must I live it to learn it? Why can’t I just read a book about it?

There are plenty of books about the wheels and the circles in so many cultures and we have plenty of recommended readings, but if nothing changes in your life once you put down the book, what's the point? We suggest that you try writing your own book, by keeping a Wisdom Wheel Journal about your own One Thousand Day Journey.
