Welcome to the Wisdom Wheel Law of Ultimate-Reality # 30

Time to take up the 30^th Law of Ultimate Reality.  This is the last stepping stone in the South Direction, and it usually generates lots of questions in study circles. Few people have a ready definition for Ultimate Reality, unless they’ve had out-of-body experiences. Most of us can describe our sense of various realities, with a lower case ‘r,’ but we tend to run out of words and concepts to explain the sum total of all these combined realities.

Studying the Wheel is a good way to approach Ultimate Reality. Since so many dimensions, perspectives and levels of consciousness exist, it is no surprise that we human beings have difficulty dealing with All That Is. For that we need a different kind of map and a better compass, like the Wheel. Otherwise we can get lost trying to explore the many worlds within worlds.

Whether referring to mental realities, like the scientific paradigm or the spiritual realities of the mystics, it is impossible to reconcile all those points of view without an inclusive foundation and a sense of common ground. There are wheels within wheels. And each of us interacts with a myriad of spiraling energies, on micro and macro levels, in our dream states and our waking hours.

From the concentric, swirling galaxies of faraway stars to the whorls at the end of our fingertips, we have an endless series of Choices to make about what level of reality to pay attention to. Without some supra-organizing principle, like the circle and the Wheel, how could we accommodate the sheer immensity of all this information without going insane?

Human beings have always needed ways to make sense of the world around them, and to keep track of what was going in the inner worlds, of imagination, myth and spirit.  We need to make meaning from what happens in our lives and our surroundings. The attempts to comprehend a greater reality, and to use our understanding to better predict and survive, probably inspired the people who constructed the very first circular symbols eons ago.    

Like a huge round file, the Wheel provides a place for every thing. It also allows each person to position themselves in relation to everything else. Without this, how could you begin sorting through the multitude of realities you are presented with each day?

From conflicting feelings and opinions, to facts which don’t add up, we need tools to help us make sense of all this information.

The Wheel enables you to see the Divine Pattern. Then you can appreciate how this Supreme Intelligence operates in every realm of existence. Pattern recognition gives you a sense of security as well as a sense of meaning. The Universe is not just random chaos. The parts do add up to a whole which has Beauty, Integrity and Higher Purpose.

This sense of Ultimate Reality keeps you in touch with the Big Picture. When tragedy, grief or other strong emotions threaten your ability to stay focused and keep things in perspective, let the Wheel stabilize and ground you. It is a steady reminder of the Greater Good even when the human ego, brain and heart fail to comprehend it. 

If you can accept the notion that you are a spiritual being having a human experience, then Ultimate Reality is easier to apprehend. Freed from the tyrannies of human nature, you can even have Compassion for the limits of being in human form. Human perceptions of Reality may be incomplete but they are also understandable and excusable when we look at ourselves through the lenses of Ultimate Reality.

All limits disappear for those looking at human life from the level of spiritual consciousness. That is Reality, ultimately.  When we return to spirit form we return to this level of consciousness. In the meantime, we can do our best to experience Sacred Oneness and the Great Mystery while working to raise our Awareness and appreciate our varying perceptions of reality. 

The Law of Great Mystery balances the Law of Ultimate Reality. This should come as no surprise. There are some things we can never know while in human form but if we can evolve and expand the capacities of our minds, hearts, bodies and spirits, we can embrace All That Is, even if we can’t comprehend it.

Ultimate Reality includes all times, all spaces and all of eternity. This vastness is overwhelming.  To approach this Ultimate Reality we have to get out of our own (human) way. It is easier to do this by relaxing instead of striving to defend our one particular point of view. Like the parable about the Blind Men and the Elephant, we may be holding the trunk swearing that reality is one thing while those touching the side of the elephant or holding her tail will argue, equally vehemently, for their version of reality.

Ultimate Reality belongs in the South, above the anchoring Law of Trust. Thinking is not the best way to perceive Ultimate Reality. You have to Surrender the limits of the human senses, and become more detached from the emotional ups and downs to appreciate what it means to be a spiritual being enduring a human existence. This is why out-of-body experiences are such powerful teachers about this Law. Our emotional, intellectual and physical limitations are no match for our spiritual capabilities. Fear prevents most people from reconciling their daily human reality with Ultimate Reality. This is humanity’s greatest tragedy.

As you near the end of this guided Journey round the Wheel of Life, enjoy the energies and realities of those you come in contact with. Don’t lose heart. As you approach each quadrant and each Law, experiencing the changing seasons, archetypes and gifts you are being offered, remember how limitless Ultimate Reality is. Don’t get stuck in the rut of a single reality.
