Welcome to the Wisdom Wheel Law of Creativity # 25

Most of us have forgotten that the Great Creator bestows all gifts of insight, genius, artistic ability and truly elegant solutions.  Problems can be solved and ideas can flow through inexhaustibly if we honor our Creativity… Share your creation stories.

Introduction to the Law of Creativity

Another full moon arrives, and it is time to pick up the Law of Creativity, #25. This Law marks the beginning of your third and final year on this 1,000 Day Journey round the Wisdom Wheel.

Creativity is the first of the 12 ‘stepping stones’ that take you back towards the inner circle on the Wheel. They amplify the anchoring Laws of the Four Directions; Right Action in the East, Trust in the South, Higher Purpose in the West and Integrity in the North.

Creativity, Courage and Commitment are in the East under Right Action. It would be difficult, if not impossible, to carry out Right Action decisions without Creativity, Courage and Commitment. Likewise, our creative ideas will never see the light of day if we lack the Courage and Commitment to see them through.

Since you studied the Law of Enlightenment last month, take a moment to consider how it relates to Creativity. As you begin this new Law, can you feel the influence of both these principles in your life? While seeking Enlightenment, there is no reason why we can’t also find creative solutions to the challenges of everyday life.

Creativity is balanced by the Law of Pure Potential in the West. There are mental, emotional, spiritual and physical’ aspects to Creativity and you will look at all of these over the coming month. Remember the old phrase, Necessity is the Mother of Invention? Sometimes social, or self imposed limits, can catalyze our creative genius as centuries of examples have shown. So try some self-imposed discipline to spark your own Creativity in the coming weeks.

Last month your homework was to choose who you thought was an ‘enlightened being’. Take another look at your Choices now. Ask yourself, did their Creativity contribute anything to their Enlightenment? Are enlightened people more creative? If so, why?

The Creativity of other people affects the rest of us in countless ways, from new inventions to new philosophies and religions. But enlightened people don’t have to be ancient masters from far away lands. Nothing prevents your next door neighbor from being an enlightened gardener for example, or a very creative parent, teacher or artist. One well-known Creativity expert in the United States is Julia Cameron, who wrote the bestselling book, The Artist's Way.  She suggests a twelve-week program to recover your Creativity. The book has optional companion journals, like The Artist's Way Workbook. Two more books, Walking in this World  and Finding Water: The Art of Perseverance provide additional inspiration to readers.

Cameron’s approach demonstrates the link between Enlightenment and Creativity.  She explains not only a Process that works universally, but she also recounts personal stories about why recovering our Creativity is as much of a spiritual experience as it is an emotional, physical and intellectual one.

She encourages the formation of ‘creative clusters’ akin to study groups and says the Sacred Circle is the decisive factor, People need to work together to nurture and support each other over the long haul.

We invoke the Great Creator when we invoke our own Creativity.  That creative force has the power to alter lives, fulfill destinies and answer our dreams…Fears and doubts will always be part of creative territory, but (we) can move through (them) with a little help from our friends.

We belong to an ancient and holy tribe. We are carriers of the truth that spirit moves through us all. By acknowledging the Sacred Circle , we declare principles to be above personalities. We invite a spirit of service to the highest good

Focusing on the Highest Good, or Summum Bonum as they say in Latin, makes a crucial difference. Whether it is a prayer for help, an intention about our work or a solution for our families, when we ask to serve something larger than just ourselves, we do our best work.

When calling upon the Power and force of Creativity, leave room to allow for All That Is. If we are too attached to specifics, we limit the potential outcome. Creativity knows no bounds.

Some are uncomfortable with the idea that there is a Creator, especially if they’ve had negative experiences with organized religion. But if we can acknowledge there is a Source of Creativity beyond our small minds and fearful egos, it becomes easier to create.

So work this month on your connection with Divine Mind and the Great Spirit, or whatever name you want to give to that which is Beyond you. Each of us needs to forge our own relationship with our Muse, and nurture it, if we expect to receive inspiration. We need to connect with something larger than the puny imaginations of our little personality selves.

To embody the Divine Energy of Creativity, it helps to see your Self as a vessel, a Hollow Reed or a Hollow Bone. Some of the most creative people in the world have proven this. We need the kind of relationship with Creativity that will permit a miraculous flow to come through us. That is how the Wisdom Wheel came through.

Many blessings, Malcolm and Cynthia Davidson
