Welcome to the Wisdom Wheel Law of Renewal # 21

Think of Spring and the great lessons of each new season.  Renewal is at hand in every moment…there are those who can catalyze newness and growth for us all.

Welcome to your 21^st full moon on this 1,000 Day Journey. It is time for the Law of Renewal.  As you carried the Law of Choices last month, I hope you chose to read the Daily Emails regularly. Renew your vow to get the most out of your experience on this Journey by using the Wheel more often. Refer to it. Practice makes perfect. As with vitamins and exercise, the benefits won’t come if you neglect to do your part. 

As you consider the bountiful Law of Renewal, face each Direction as you turn clockwise and ask the question, “What part needs Renewal the most?” Wait for the response and remember to honor those needs this month. Attend to your personal Renewal; mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually during this ‘hibernation’ time of year. Then look at what needs Renewal in your relationships; to family, home and work. 

Renewal is the birth law of the Capricorns, those Earth-in-Winter folks, born on the North side of the Wheel (Dec. 21-Jan. 21). Here Spirit take priority and Integrity is the anchoring Law.  Reflect on the Capricorns you know. My former husband was born under the Law of Renewal and he makes a living as a contractor, doing renovations and physically renewing homes and offices.

When you look at the Wisdom Wheel, you see that the Law of Renewal is balanced by the Law of Initiation. Think about their relationship. Each January we make New Year resolutions, for example, initiating our intentions for Renewal, with vows to exercise regularly, keep a journal, meditate, clean our homes, etcetera. Look back at what you did while carrying the Law of Initiation and close the loop.

We live under the Law of Renewal at ages 20, 47, 74 and 101. When I was 47, I started to Sun Dance, and that ceremony has continued to be a great source of spiritual Renewal ever since. If you have never done a fast, consider doing one this year. Fasting is a well-proven means of Renewal, in many Faith traditions.  

Why is this Law is on the North, Winter side of the Wheel? Renewal is something we usually associate with Spring time, but the Commitment to Renewal often happens deep in the dark, cold ground, although the proverbial flowers won’t be visible until April. Do some burrowing yourself this Winter, and your spirit will feel more renewed when Spring arrives. Edward Hirsch recommends, Reading poetry is an adventure in renewal, a creative act, a perpetual beginning, a rebirth of wonder.

As the Wisdom Wheel Renewal card says, ‘Renewal is at hand in every moment.’  Like the Bears, we need some form of hibernation and decreased activity in respect for the Law of Cycles, and the ebb and flow of our energies. Don’t let the consumer craziness of the holiday season overwhelm you this year. Stay centered and calm.

For your homework this month, pick one quadrant and make a vow to honor a regular Renewal ritual. You might want to focus on the quadrant you are currently living in since those issues are your natural priorities at the present time. Or work with your element, if you’re a Water person for instance, make time for a regular swim or a soak in the tub.
