Welcome to the Wisdom Wheel Law of Integrity # 12

The moon is full again and it is time to take up the Law of Integrity. This Law anchors the North side of the Wisdom Wheel. It’s the 12^th Law and the last of the Four Directions. Reaching this point also marks the end of your first year on this three year Journey. Congratulations on keeping your promise. Being a person who keeps their word is a good example of Integrity.  

Just as every compass points ‘true North’ you could say a person’s character ought to point North to Integrity. As you study this Law, reflect on the reasons why Integrity seems so rare these days. While carrying this principle through each quadrant, realize what threatens your Integrity and where your real strength comes from. In the East, our minds might tend to rationalize compliance and keep us silent, or co-opted. In the West, our bodies might be comprised by illness, accident or trauma like beatings, torture or rape. In the South, our hearts put us at risk, since tender feelings can delude us, but spirit in the North is above all these things. 

The North side of the Wheel is the place of Visions and synthesis, midnight and starlight, spirit, wind, breath and air, the winter season and the color white. The White Haired Elders are represented here, along with animals whose hair turns white in winter, like Artic fox, snowy owl (The Night Eagle) and the polar bear. The buffalo belongs in this place of honor too, because he gave everything to the people, from his tongue to his dung.

Each month, as you’ve traveled through the Northern quadrant under the waxing moon, you’ve focused on the spiritual aspects of the Law you were studying. Take a few moments to reflect on the spiritual aspects of Integrity. What do spirituality and Integrity have in common? Why are they together at the top of the Wheel? Does the spirit of Integrity animate your life?

Part of your personal work with Integrity is to integrate your dreams, Higher Purpose, thoughts, words and Right Actions. Make your life as coherent and congruent as the Wheel. This may mean leaving a workplace or even a place of worship if your heart’s not in it, and your Integrity is at stake. If you can not Trust it means Integrity is absent.

Trust is the Law that balances Integrity. This pair of Laws form the North/South axis of the Wheel, reminding us that spirit is our ultimate guide. When we follow our hearts, spirit must be leading, and providing the energy to do what we Love. Ideally, what we Trust protects our Integrity, 

During your Life Journey around the Wheel, everyone lives in the North at ages 21-23, 48-50 and 75-77. During these years in particular, your spiritual life deserves priority. When your spiritual affairs are in order, the other parts of your life fall into place. Be a person of spiritual Integrity above all else. Integrity is about being ethical, and not cheating anyone, especially your Self. When dealing with those who have acted ‘out of Integrity,’ it’s worth remembering that judging and punishing also have to be done in accordance with the Law of Integrity. Justice has forever to work itself out. Eternity is a lot longer than any court sentence or the lifetime of a lawyer or a prison guard.
